At the outset, GSIB is blessed with the confidence of many esteemed recruiters and their continued patronage to recruit our students year after year. As a routine, placements at GSIB is a normal flow and students get as many interview opportunities matching to their skill sets till they get a placement offer. The interesting phenomena is that many recruiters visit the campus by blocking suitable slots with placement department well in advance, to say as early in 5th trimester itself rather than inviting students to off campus interviews. Invariably, the students of GSIB are fortunate enough to have wider options to choose and are selective about the jobs they like to join.
Year after year, recruiters from varied fields visit our campus and many new companies are added to the regular list of GSIB’s recruiters. During 2015 recruiters include companies operating in Technology, FMCG, Consultancy, Financial Services, Analytics, Telecom, E-tailing, Retail, Logistics etc., The companies operating in the domain of Analytics were the first few to visit the campus.
In the early offers during 2015, one of the GSIB students was selected as “Market Research Analyst” by a US based data analytics company to work with their top team, in its Global Development Centre at Hyderabad serving its retail Market Leaders across the world. The student is excited to join this team since this is a fast-growing field offering a challenging environment and a promising career.
Usually, the first phase of recruitment in a year commences between October to November, companies operating in FMCG, International Accounting & Consultancies and foreign companies having its operations located in India have shown interest. The companies operating in the areas of E-Commerce and Supply Chain Management have participated in the second phase.
As such, GSIB has placed almost entire batch by end of January 2015 itself, well ahead of completion of the course which is a remarkable achievement in recent years. In the courses offered, the students chose International Banking and Finance elective are 100% placed, while the students of International Business are placed to the extent of 96%, and the remaining students are provided with as many as 12-15 interview opportunities, and the students are keenly looking to settle in the areas of their interest.
With the dynamism in the Indian economy and business environment, the prospects in the coming year are also expected to be even brighter.
During 2015 placements, the average compensation package stands increased from 3.5 lakhs to 5.0 lakhs, and highest compensation package stands increased from 6.00 lakhs to 7.00 lakhs. But it may be noted that these compensation packages exclude some perquisites and benefits which range from 2.0 to 3.00 lakhs. These exclusions would enhance the take home pay of students. Interestingly, some students are taken abroad for initial training to come back and work in India.
The highest offers received by our students are from Logistics specialization in the salary range of Rs. 5 to 7 Lakhs, followed by the students did their courses in Business analytics and majority of the students are placed in the salary range of 4 to 5 lakhs.
The unique feature of this placement season is that new set of companies that came for placement are from e-commerce domain who prefers to take students having multi skill sets and combination of Analytics and Logistics (preferably in the procurement logistics).
As usual, this year also there are couple of overseas companies visited campus to recruit our students, but our students chose to settle with the offers received from indigenous companies.
